Norbert Dewender grew up in Wachtendonk on the Lower Rhine. To this day, the region remains the centre of his professional and philanthropic activities.

The idea of establishing the Dewender Foundation arose from the question of how financial resources and personal opportunities could be used in a lasting and meaningful way for the public good.

What began as a succession planning consideration gradually developed into the decision to establish the foundation during his lifetime and to actively shape its development. This has provided the opportunity to gain practical experience, explore different approaches to charitable giving, and guide the foundation's long-term direction.

For Norbert Dewender, the foundation is not only a provision for the future but also an opportunity to assume social responsibility today.
